The evolution of an ergonomic revolution
The original Aeron chair changed the way office chairs were designed. Since its debut in 1994, Herman Miller has learned a lot about how to best support the different postures that change throughout the workday. The newly remastered Aeron chair incorporates 20 years of technical and ergonomic features for healthy design and versatile functionality. With a more precise tilt mechanism, adjustable PostureFit SL, and 8Z Pellicle suspension, Aeron elevates performance like never before. While its iconic form remains largely unchanged, Aeron has been completely remastered to meet the needs of modern work. Available in three sizes for an inclusive, not exclusive, fit, Aeron offers the same comfort for the widest range of anthropometric body types. The remastered Aeron chair is where high performance and science-backed ergonomics meet iconic design.

Herman Miller Authorized Dealer THE CHAIR SHOP
THE CHAIR SHOP is a specialty shop for Herman Miller products, staffed by a specialist in Herman Miller products (the former shop manager of the official Herman Miller shop). Chair Co., Ltd., the operating company, also undertakes the production of Herman Miller's official website (Herman Miller Maintenance) on a contract basis. Aeron Chairs are stocked in-house (warehouse: Gotemba City, Shizuoka Prefecture) in abundance, allowing us to provide the quantity of products you need when you need them, in a "just-in-time" manner.

The evolution of an ergonomic revolution
The Aeron Chair, which debuted in 1994, changed the way office chairs were perceived. Herman Miller has taken the technical and ergonomic features of the Aeron Chair that it has developed over the past 20 years and redesigned it. With a more precise tilt mechanism, adjustable PostureFit SL, and 8Z Pellicle suspension, the Aeron Chair enhances the performance of the person sitting in it with superior performance. The Aeron Chair also comes in three sizes to fit inclusively (not exclusive), providing the same comfort to the widest range of anthropometric body types. The Aeron Chair is where high performance and science-backed ergonomics meet iconic design.

8Z Pellicle
The new 8Z Pellicle elastomer suspension has eight zones of varying tension with a visually uniform surface. It is zoned on four backs and four seats. It provides better pressure distribution for the body. It also allows body heat to pass through, helping to maintain a comfortable skin temperature. The new 8Z Pellicle provides comfortable, ergonomic support.
Spinal misalignment can cause lower back pain. To prevent lower back pain, it is important to keep the spine in an S-shape. The shape of the spine is influenced by the pelvis, so it is very important to support the pelvis in the correct position. When the pelvis shifts forward and the posture is bent forward, the stress on the intervertebral discs is 190% of that when standing. By supporting the pelvis in the correct position with the Posture Fit function, it is possible to reduce the stress on the intervertebral discs to 115% of that when standing.
The reason why Herman Miller developed PostureFit is that many workers sit for long periods of time without sitting deeply, with their weight only on the front part of the seat of their office chair. If you continue to sit in a slouched position without supporting your back and waist, you will often experience problems such as stiff neck and shoulders, headaches, fatigue, and back pain. In order to maintain the correct curve of the spine without bending forward, it is important to provide solid support by eliminating the gap between the lower part of the backrest and the pelvis of the person sitting, so that the angle of the pelvis is the same as when the person is standing. Normally, even if you sit deeply, there will be a gap in this area. Therefore, Herman Miller is the first office furniture manufacturer to develop a new lumbar support function. This technology was developed in collaboration with Dr. Brock Walker, an expert in the treatment of lower back pain and a researcher of chairs from an ergonomic perspective. Dr. Brock Walker is highly regarded as a consultant in various fields such as the marine industry, aerospace industry, and motorsports industry, and has been involved in the development of cockpits for airplanes and racing cars.
PostureFit SL
Operation point: Posture Fit Dial Sit down and turn the posture fit dial on the back of the right seat back forward (clockwise) to support your pelvis firmly. Sit all the way to the back of the seat. By supporting yourself in the correct position, it is possible to reduce the stress on your intervertebral discs to 115% of that when you are standing.

Reclining hardness adjustment : Rod-shaped dial on the bottom right of the seat
To make it harder : Turn the dial in the plus (+) direction without leaning on the backrest.
To soften : Turn the dial in the minus - direction without leaning on the backrest.

Arm angle adjustment
Grasp the tip of the arm pad and move it horizontally. When using a computer, adjust it according to the situation, such as moving it outward when using the mouse and inward when using the keyboard.

Arm height adjustment
Sit on the seat and lift the lever behind the base of the armrest to release the lock. Then, hold the base of the armrest (near the joint with the backrest) and move it up or down. When you reach the desired position, push the lever down to lock the armrest in place.
The tilt mechanism has a slimmer, more compact appearance. It has been 20 years since the Aeron Chair was developed. The approach to ergonomics and the materials and technology used in the product have made great advances. The internal mechanism has been redesigned, including using a different spring material, resulting in smoother operation.
Aeron Chair in Three Sizes <br>The Aeron Chair offers the same comfort for the widest range of anthropometric sizes. To meet the needs of as wide a range of body types as possible, the Aeron Chair was designed in three different sizes. This idea has become an integral part of the Aeron Chair's DNA. Therefore, the new remastered Aeron Chair is also offered in three anthropometric sizes: A (small), B (medium), and C (large).

Bill Stumpf & Don Chadwick
Bill Stumph and Don Chadwick created Herman Miller's first ergonomic office chair, the Ergon chair, in 1976. In 1979, they introduced the Equa chair, which offered an ergonomic seating solution. Bill Stumph realized that the situation and changes at the time when computers began to be introduced into offices were not responding well to people's needs, so he began designing a completely new office chair. This was the "Aeron chair," which would later become the de facto standard for high-performance office chairs.

I do my best work when I'm on the edge. DJ De Pree of Herman Miller told me, "Good design isn't just good business; it's a moral imperative." That's the biggest pressure I have. — Bill Stumph

Bill Stumph and Don Chadwick, both born in 1936, are the most powerful design duo in the history of office furniture. The Chadwick-Stumph partnership was based on Chadwick's dedication to materials and manufacturing processes and Stumph's dedication to ergonomics. The result was a highly technical, durable chair that was suitable for almost anyone.
In 2016, with the help of Chadwick, the Aeron Chair was remastered to incorporate new research into the science of sitting, as well as advances in materials, manufacturing and technology.

Herman Miller

Design is about solving fundamental human problems
Founded in 1923 (its predecessor, Star Furniture Company, was founded in 1905), Herman Miller bet its survival on contemporary furniture during the Great Depression of the 1930s. This gamble was a great success, and in 1945, Herman Miller stopped producing traditional furniture and focused on contemporary furniture, which would later be called modern furniture. In 1960, the company began to explore the true needs of office workers and the needs of companies and organizations. They realized that office productivity was a major issue in business. The "Action Office" that was developed in this way became the norm for subsequent office systems. Herman Miller believes that innovation is not a goal but the result of research. Innovation comes from research into customer needs, exploration of materials and processes, and design that responds to social and economic innovations. Of course, designers add inspiration on top of that. Charles and Ray Eames' plywood chairs, Robert Propst's Action Office, Bill Stumph's Ergon and Aeron chairs, and Ayse Birsel's Resolve system are all products of such interactions. What connected them to Herman Miller was the shared belief that "design exists to solve fundamental human problems." Rather than designing for the sake of design, it was their passion to create new designs from research into the human body and the environment that surrounds us.
The quality control department repeats the industry standard 100,000 seat tests 1 million times. The unparalleled research and development department develops from the material, and the manufacturing department realizes the most advanced manufacturing process. In all of these, Herman Miller never forgets its idea of creating new designs by researching the human body and the environment. Herman Miller's products are the inevitable form that was born from researching the problems related to the act of sitting. In order to save global resources and reduce the environmental burden, Herman Miller's products strive to improve the durability and reliability of its products, and the product warranty period for work chairs is 12 years. Another aspect of innovation, "taking risks," is equally important. Herman Miller strives to always maintain a willingness to take risks. As the company expands and the responsibility for capital increases, the pressure to minimize risk has also increased. However, Herman Miller continues to take risks to bring out new products that it is confident will be successful - and sometimes products with revolutionary qualities that will change the times.
