EMECO EMECO
Wilton Carlyle Dinges founded the Electric Machine and Equipment Company (Emeco) in Hanover, Pennsylvania in 1940. During World War II, Emeco created chairs to meet the needs of the US Navy. The 1006 Navy chair is made of fireproof, non-corrosive, salt-resistant yet lightweight aluminum. In 77 steps, recycled aluminum becomes very strong. What works in a demanding environment will eventually fit in so many other environments.
